Experience
Youth Services Library Assistant, 2006-present. Boise Public Library. Reference and Readers' Advisory, quarterly puppet shows, maintenance of a small collection for preschool children called 'KidPacks.' Occasional programming for children, book talks for teens, and promoting programs with displays and signs. Part-Time Employee of the Year, 2011.
College of Western Idaho Library Assistant. Fall 2012-present. Reference and library instruction for community college students. Collection development projects.
Homeschool Teacher, 2001-present. Provided instruction and planned education for two students, grades 3-12. Taught all subjects including math, science, literature, history, and languages to my own students; occasionally led group classes in science and literature.
Research Assistant, 1984-89. U. Wisconsin-Madison ('87-89) and San Francisco VA Hospital ('84-87). Conducted research studies in the area of neurophysiology, particularly in electrophysiology.
Library Assistant, 1982-84. U. California-Berkeley. Worked in the main campus library, Doe Library, as a student. Held positions including Student Search Supervisor (LA II), and Student Supervisor (LA III).
Library Skills
Storytelling. Graduate coursework in traditional storytelling. Presented stories to preschool and school-age children at Boise Public Library.
Arts and Crafts. Presented special programs on an occasional basis.
Puppetry. Presented original puppet shows at the library (2007- 2012). Wrote scripts, prepared soundtracks, made props and scenery, and trained assistants.
Interests and Hobbies
Multicultural events. Organized and led "Dia de los Ninos" at Boise Public Library, led
Chinese New Year programs, prepared displays highlighting
cultures around the world, and participated in several one-time
programs.
Music.
Active in choirs & small vocal ensembles since 1970.
Art.
Weaving, spinning, embroidery, painting, origami, cartooning,
sculpting, and other crafts. Led "Get Creative @ Your Library" summer
reading programs for school-age kids 2009.
