Library Tapestry

Library Projects

National Novel Writing Month: write  50,000 words in a month. I brought this program to BPL in 2010.

Here's an article from the "Boise Weekly" on NaNoWriMo "It's Over!!!" party.  Image courtesy of NaNoWriMo.

This Teen Tech Week craft project utilized old computer parts and some add-ons. We added the heading:

Tech - It Grows on You.

Storytelling: one of my favorite stories to tell is a variant on Aesop's "Belling the Cat." Click below to hear this story.

A 2009 library program focusing on the arts allowed me to create this "diptych" (DIP-tik) collage. The process was so simple even children could master it!

Chinese New Year: an annual program I have led at the library since 2008. Program attendance in January of 2011 was 197 excited kids and parents. Their favorite part comes at the end of the hour: we jump on bubble wrap to simulate fireworks!

Read about it in Idaho Commission for Libraries, "The Scoop."

The Idaho Statesman featured a story on puppets at the library!  Both my coworker and I were interviewed. It was published on Feb. 4, 2011.

I produce quarterly puppet shows for audiences of up to 200. Here is a photo from "Splat!," first presented  in Summer 2009. The space aliens have invaded the library and are interviewing Mother Goose.

What's more fun than a Beatrix Potter story? "Tales from Beatrix Potter," stories told in ballet!  I arranged this performance at Boise Public in January 2011.

Introducing children to the arts is one of my passions. I always include classical music in scores for my puppet shows. The birthday girl in this photo is enjoying a ballet performance I facilitated at the library in January 2011.
